Project of Tadeusz Kościuszko

The “Four States” project took part in the second competition for a monument of Tadeusz Kościuszko, announced by the authorities of Łódź in 1925. In the first competition, despite the winners being selected, the projects were not implemented due to their unsatisfactory quality. In the second competition, the Committee decided to be more selective to prevent amateurs from entering. They invited 10 skilled sculptors, including Jan Szczepkowski, whose project won second place. The winning work named “Drugi Tymoleon” and created by Mieczysław Lutelski is to this day standing on the Wolności Square in Łódź.
